What is Textured Spray-In Bedliners?

Spray-in bedliners are heavy-duty, industrial elastomeric coatings formulated from cross-linked Polyurea or Polyurethane-hybrid resins. Sprayed at high temperatures and pressures, they cure into an incredibly dense, ultra-rugged shield designed to resist impact and gouging. The unique texture is intentionally jagged and non-slip to keep cargo from sliding around. However, this microscopic high-friction landscape aggressively traps dried mud, cement dust, organic compounds, and heavy road oils. Furthermore, standard aromatic polyurea formulations possess low native UV fastness; continuous solar exposure degrades the polymer surface matrix, causing the rugged black finish to turn into a chalky, dried-out dull grey.

Professional Cleaning Method

1. Heavy Debris Pressure Flush: Blast the liner thoroughly with a high-pressure rinse stream to lift away loose chunks of dried mud, sand, and surface dirt hiding inside the valleys of the texture.

2. High-Strength Contamination Emulsification: Spray ImportWorx Shop Cleaner (your heavy-duty degreaser) evenly over the textured coating. Let it dwell for 3 minutes to split caked-on mud and greasy organic residues. Do not let it dry completely.

3. Mechanical Aggitation: Scrub the surface thoroughly using a stiff-bristled utility deck brush. The rigid bristles are required to sweep mud out of the sharp polymer peaks without tearing, which would completely shred a standard wash mitt.

4. Deep Conditioning UV Seal: Pressure-rinse the bedliner clean until all suds run clear. Allow the material to dry fully until it looks raw and clean. Apply a liberal coat of Rubber Dressing using a dense applicator or a specialized pump sprayer, then back-wipe any pooling excess. The non-slip polymer dressing deeply conditions the faded material, restoring a clean satin-black look without leaving behind a slick, greasy residue that would make cargo slide dangerously.

  • Severe UV Chalking: Aromatic resin degradation that turns deep black bedliners into a severely weathered, oxidized ash-grey.
  • Embedded Staining: Dried clay, cement, or landscaping soils setting into the rough texture, leaving permanent brown or white discoloration shadows.
  • Incorrect Dressing Slickness: Applying traditional silicone tire shines or oils that coat the bedliner in a slick grease layer, turning the safety traction zone into a dangerous slipping hazard.
