Road tar is a viscous, petroleum-based byproduct of asphalt wear. When kicked up by tires, these molten "bitumen" specks land on the lower third of the vehicle and immediately solidify. Because tar is a non-polar hydrocarbon, it is impervious to standard pH-neutral soaps. If left untreated, the oils in the tar can leach into the clear coat or vinyl wrap, causing permanent yellow staining. Safe removal requires a chemical emulsifier that breaks the bond between the tar and the substrate, allowing the contaminant to be wiped away with zero mechanical abrasion.
