What is Dry Carbon Fiber?

Dry carbon fiber is manufactured using "pre-preg" (pre-impregnated) fibers cured in an autoclave. This process uses the minimum amount of resin necessary, resulting in a microscopic texture that is "dry" to the touch. Unlike wet carbon, there is no thick gel coat to polish. The surface is often porous and requires "texture-neutral" chemicals to avoid staining.

Professional Cleaning Method

  1. Air Purge: If possible, blow off loose dust with compressed air to avoid rubbing grit into the weave.
  2. Specialized Wash: Use Vinyl Wrap Detailer (Yellow) or Quick Wash (Blue) as they do not contain gloss-enhancing oils.
  3. Preservation: Mist Ceramic Carbon Guard (Tangerine) onto a microfiber first, then wipe to provide UV protection without altering the matte finish.
  4. Avoid: Never use waxes, glazes, or high-speed buffers on dry carbon.

Common Vulnerabilities

  • Weave Staining: Waxes or thick sealants will get trapped in the weave and turn white.
  • Permanent Polishing: Rubbing too hard can "polish" the matte finish into a permanent, ugly shine.
  • Oil Absorption: Fingerprints can "soak" into the surface if not cleaned immediately.
