What is Water Spot Etching?

Water spots are the result of mineral-rich water (hard water) evaporating on a vehicle's surface, leaving behind calcium and magnesium deposits. If left in direct sunlight, these minerals can "etch" into the clear coat or ceramic coating, creating permanent physical craters that require abrasive polishing to remove.

What Causes This Issue?

Hard Water Evaporation: Washing in direct sunlight or using unfiltered tap water.

Acid Rain: Environmental pollutants mixing with rain and drying on the surface.

Sprinkler Systems: Recycled groundwater hitting the car and baking in the sun.

How to Prevent Future Damage

Dry Immediately: Use a high-GSM drying towel to ensure no standing water remains.

Apply Protection: Use Protector Hybrid Ceramic Sealant to create a hydrophobic barrier.

Wash in Shade: Always ensure the surface is cool to the touch before applying water.
