Vinyl wrap failure typically manifests as lifting (peeling at the edges) or bubbling (gas pockets under the film). This is caused by a breakdown in the adhesive bond or the loss of "plasticizers"—the chemicals that keep vinyl flexible. When a wrap dries out due to UV exposure and harsh chemicals, it shrinks. This shrinkage creates massive tension at the edges, causing the film to pull away from deep recesses and curves. Bubbling often occurs due to "outgassing" from the substrate or improper cleaning prior to installation, leaving microscopic contaminants trapped beneath the film.
