VJMU Sunday Sessions: The Art of Vintage Preservation
At VJMU Sunday Sessions, the culture shifts. It is less about aggressive fitment and more about the provenance of the machine. From rotary-swapped Porsches to drag-ready R100s, this event is a masterclass in why we preserve these legends. For ImportWorx, it was an honor to showcase how modern chemistry keeps vintage steel and classic pigments alive.
Our Metallic Charcoal Gray Datsun 510 SSS booth car. Every detail, from the SSS badge to the SR20 heart, is built for longevity.
The 510 Standard: Precision Detailing
The Datsun 510 SSS is a collector's dream. Keeping that Charcoal Gray finish looking showroom-fresh requires a specific touch. We keep our booth car protected with our Graphene Ceramic Detailer; it adds a sacrificial layer that protects against the elements without stripping the natural oils of the original finish.
SR20DET heart: Pure vintage power.
Work Meister S1 fitment.
Booth Feature: The ImportWorx NSX
The Marga Hills widebody NSX: Our booth icon for VJMU 2022.
The centerpiece of our booth this year was this widebody Acura NSX. Outfitted with the aggressive Marga Hills widebody kit and a massive Voltex GT wing, this build is pure aero-dominance. Maintaining a finish like this in deep wheel wells and complex riveted gaps is no small feat. We trust our Foam Bath Wash & Shine to lift heavy road debris without the need for aggressive, paint-dulling scrubbing. When your aero is this aggressive, you don't compromise on the prep.
Wild Swaps & Rare Builds: Engineering Legends
Nothing turns heads like engineering experiments. This year’s Sunday Session was a masterclass in audacity, showcasing how far enthusiasts will go to build the impossible. When you're dealing with exposed, complex, and vintage engine bays, reach for our Shop Cleaner. It cuts through oil and oxidation safely, keeping these unique hearts show-ready.
The exterior profile remains classic 964, but the heart is pure Wankel.
The Plaid interior detail; pure vintage drip.
The Disruptor: Porsche 964 Rotary Swap
This 911 (964) shattered the purist mold by swapping its flat-six for a modified rotary engine. It’s a philosophical statement: why settle for factory expectations? From the yellow seat belts to the iconic plaid interior, this build proves that "Rotary Loyalty" knows no brand boundaries. We were stoked to see our flyer on the dash, a true sign that even the most unorthodox builds value professional-grade care.
Silver-grey finish: Drag-ready from every angle.
The heart: Exposed rotary mechanics at VJMU.
The Drag Icon: Metallic Silver R100
Representing the pure rotary lineage, this metallic silver-grey Mazda R100 was built for one purpose: drag racing. VJMU was a chance to study its raw mechanics up close. With a heavily modified rotary powerplant and drag-spec chassis, this machine bridges the gap between classic design and maximum acceleration. In the drag world, a clean engine bay isn't just for show, it’s how you spot a leak before it costs you a pass.

Show-ready prep: Precision engine bay detailing.
The FD Masterclass: DJBoost RX7
The RX7 FD3S is arguably the most beautiful silhouette to ever come out of Japan. DJBoost’s red build is a testament to the "Form Follows Function" mantra. Featuring a track-spec wing and aggressive aero, it commands attention without being loud. Keeping that deep red paint protected from track debris and sun exposure is a challenge, which is why we’re proud to see our brand represented under the wing. It’s the perfect example of how high-level performance and showroom-quality detailing coexist.
Paddock Highlights: The Rotary Lineage
The variety at VJMU was deep. We were stoked to see everyone dropping by the booth to check out the new Dark Frost Scents and grab some stickers. Nothing defines the "Sunday Sessions" vibe quite like a row of clean rotary-powered legends.
