The Hoonipigasus is set to be the ultimate Porsche racecar build, featuring an all-new livery created by the renowned artist Trouble Andrew, also known as Guccighost. This stunning design pays homage to the iconic 1971 Porsche 917/20 "Pink Pig." The combination of power, innovation, and artistic expression makes the Hoonipigasus a true masterpiece.
Ken Block, co-founder of Hoonigan, alongside Hoonigan Racing Division, unveiled this one-of-a-kind mid-engine powerhouse. Built by the expert team at BBi Autosport in collaboration with Mobil 1, the Hoonipigasus aims to achieve the fastest overall time at the legendary Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. The partnership with Mobil 1 as the official motor oil brings the engineering and technology expertise needed to push the limits of performance.
With the Mobil high-flying Pegasus trademark displayed on the Hoonipigasus, the legacy of the winningest motor oil brand on America's Mountain since 1934 is commemorated. Mobil 1's support and experience in Formula 1 will undoubtedly contribute to the vehicle's success on the demanding Pikes Peak course.
For Ken Block, this is a dream come true. While he raced at Pikes Peak before, this is his first opportunity to compete in the top-spec class and vie for an overall victory. The Hoonipigasus, weighing just 1,000kg, features a unique transmission tunnel known as the "Chorizo Tunnel," lowering its center of gravity and optimizing performance. Equipped with GPS Height-adjusted suspension and Block's exceptional driving skills, the Hoonipigasus is poised to make history.
The unveiling of the Hoonipigasus is the culmination of a decade-long journey for BBi Autosport, driven by their ambition to create the ultimate vintage Porsche racecar. BBi Autosport's previous successes at Pikes Peak, including two class wins and one podium finish in 2021, demonstrate their expertise and dedication to pushing boundaries.
To celebrate this remarkable collaboration, Hoonigan and Trouble Andrew embarked on a year-long partnership, which will showcase Guccighost-inspired liveries on all of Block's race cars in 2022, including his current rally car, a Hyundai i20 WRC. The livery on the Hoonipigasus itself pays tribute to the timeless Porsche 917/20 "Pink Pig," captivating motorsport enthusiasts with its bold and unforgettable design.
The 100th running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, also known as The Race to the Clouds, is set to take place on Sunday, June 26. As the anticipation builds, all eyes will be on the Hoonipigasus and its quest for victory.
